Mix Tape

10 09 2010

I’ve been using a site called 8tracks.com to make mixtapes. It’s fun to make the mixes, and I like getting random mixes from complete strangers (it’s set up like a social media site I think, but I haven’t social’d with anyone yet).

The idea with mixtapes is you create them on a theme, or with a certain sound in mind, or with the intent to give to a certain person. So I have mixes of my favorite college bands, or music I listen to when I’m reading. For this mix I figured what the heck, I’m super lazy right? So here are the last 13 songs (because I like the number 13) that have come up in my general shuffle (no cheating, no skipping songs*), which I’m listening to on a Friday night, as I watch college football and Mexican soccer, and contemplate another sip of śliwowica.

The Friday Night Shuffle mixtape includes Ween, cLOUDDEAD, Sid & Fancy and Melt-Banana, one of my favorite bands, which we saw play a wonderful set at Dante’s on the 4th of July a few years ago (pictured).

Could be good, right? Enjoy: http://8tracks.com/totalnerd/friday-night-shuffle

If you like 8tracks, you should make a mix tape and let me know so I can listen to it.

*(except in one case where the same album came up twice; 8tracks.com has a copyright rule about using no more than two songs from the same album or artist, but I like to make it no more than one)
